ORCID:
Over ten years (2011-2021), I have been living in Melbourne (Australia) where I graduated with my Ph.D. in tourism from La Trobe University (Australia). I have worked in several universities as a lecturer and tutor, and I have presented at international conferences and published refereed academic journals. I received my M.Sc. in Tourism Planning and Development from the University of Surrey in 1996, and my Master in Management of Urban Tourism from the University of Barcelona in 1999. As an early career researcher, my major research interests have been the management of tourist destinations from a local community perspective. I specialise in policy, planning and development, strategic marketing, destination branding and socio-cultural impacts as they relate to tourist behaviour.
From 2018 to 2021, I was the Postgraduate Program Coordinator at The Hotel School and Southern Cross University Melbourne Campus, where I delivered units of study for both the Masters and Bachelor degrees. Since 2022, I have been working as a consultant in European Union (EU) cooperation projects, Next-Generation projects, Sustainable Development Goals (GDS) projects for local municipalities, as well as project related to gastronomy linked to local food production and consumption, 0 Mile food and Slow Food. As an academic, I am a lecturer of tourism for the Bachelor of Tourism Management at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
Throughout my academic career, I have presented research at various international conferences, including the International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism (AIEST), the Council for Australasian Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE), and the Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA). My research has been published in academic peer reviewed journals such as Tourism Review, World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Erich Schmidt Verlag, Tourismos, the Journal of Destination Marketing and Management, the Tourist Studies, and the Sociology and Space.
